The role of the Host/Hostess at Balboa Bay Resort is pivotal in shaping the first impression guests receive. This front-of-house position involves warmly greeting and seating guests, managing reservation systems, and maintaining a smooth and efficient flow within the dining area. The Host/Hostess will be responsible for providing guests with menus, offering insights about meal options, and ensuring a positive dining experience by checking in on guests during their meal. Additionally, the role includes managing waitlists, estimating wait times, and notifying guests when their tables are ready. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in hospitality or related customer service role preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Basic knowledge of computer and telephone systems
  • Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and health standards

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to serve needs of guests through verbal face-to-face interactions
  • Demonstrates positive attitude and professional demeanor
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to a high level of guest satisfaction
  • Ability to learn and use telephone and computer systems at the hotel
  • Prior experience in hospitality and/or luxury setting desired
  • Flexible availability for varying shift times

Job Duties

  • Greets guests upon arrival and seats them at their table
  • Provides guests a menu and general information about the restaurants and meal options at the hotel
  • Prepares and maintains a list of guests waiting
  • Records guest name and number of guests in the party
  • Provides an estimate of waiting time
  • Notifies party when a table becomes available
  • Checks in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course
  • Thanks guests as they depart and invites them to return at a future date
  • Cleans work areas and waiting areas according to department standards
  • Follows all standard food handling, sanitation, and health department guidelines
