Job Qualifications

  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to operate reservation and department-specific software
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Prior experience in hospitality or restaurant host role preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of food and beverage menus
  • Ability to adapt and make decisions in difficult situations

Job Duties

  • Organize greeting, seating and exiting of all guests using a professional demeanor
  • Organize all reservations, banquets and guests using effective guest and restaurant conscious procedures
  • Professionally and effectively communicate with guests to ensure satisfaction
  • Organize special requests such as birthdays, specialty cakes, large parties, third party pay forms, repeat guests, celebrity guests and banquets
  • Maintain guest relationships to promote repeat business
  • Implement quick and efficient decisions based on guest and/or restaurant needs
  • Use business savvy skills to maximize seating space and increase revenue
  • Communicate with bar, service, kitchen and management staff
  • Provide the highest quality service to guests at all times
  • Motivate and encourage communication with staff
  • Maintain awareness of all guests’ needs, reservation needs and restaurant needs
  • Understand main dining room and banquet seating configurations
  • Create and maintain a database with local concierges
  • Utilize Resy reservation system to its full capacity
  • Maintain integrity of service
  • Encourage guest feedback
  • Treat every guest, employee and vendor with respect and dignity
  • Report to work on time and in proper uniform
  • Effectively communicate with the team before, during and after shifts
  • Uphold the restaurant’s values and mission statement
  • Attend weekly restaurant manager meetings
  • Maintain knowledge of all food and beverage menus
  • Understand and follow Jean-Georges’ steps of service
