Job Description

Avery Point by Erickson Senior Living is a prestigious continuing care retirement community located in Short Pump, Virginia, just minutes from downtown Richmond. Nestled on 94 acres, Avery Point offers a vibrant living environment designed to enhance the lifestyle, financial stability, and overall well-being of its residents and staff. Part of the Erickson Senior Living network, one of the largest and most respected senior living and health care providers in the United States, Avery Point embodies a commitment to excellence in service, community engagement, and employee satisfaction. Erickson Senior Living is known for its focus on diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging, ensuring a supportive and welcoming workplace culture for all employees.

The role of Host/Hostess at Avery Point is a critical position within the community's restaurant, operating full-time Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM. Offering a competitive hourly wage of $14 to $16 based on experience, this role is not only central to creating a warm, inviting atmosphere for residents and guests but also essential in supporting the seamless coordination between servers and kitchen staff. Being a Host/Hostess here means more than managing the dining front entrance – it involves being the first point of contact that personifies the community’s dedication to hospitality and service excellence. You will be tasked with greeting guests warmly, managing guest flow, escorting residents to their tables while providing menus, and ensuring that the lobby and front-of-house areas are clean and welcoming. Moreover, your role extends to assisting in training wait staff, answering phones professionally, and facilitating effective communication that enhances overall guest satisfaction.

At Avery Point, the well-being of employees is of utmost priority. The community offers a unique quality of life by ensuring that most restaurant employees finish their shifts before 9 PM, allowing for a healthy work-life balance. Benefits include paid time off in accordance with state laws, health, dental, and vision insurance to safeguard your health, a 401k plan with a company match to support your financial future, and access to onsite medical centers providing wellness and sick visits. Additionally, employees enjoy a 30% discount on food and drinks at the community dining venues with extra healthy meal options at discounted prices. There are educational opportunities such as scholarships, certification reimbursement, and an online learning library with over 6,000 courses designed to help team members grow their skills and advance their careers.

Working at Avery Point also means being part of a national organization committed to equal employment opportunity. Erickson Senior Living maintains a discrimination-free workplace where diversity and mutual respect thrive. This role requires some flexibility, including the need to work on weekends and holidays when necessary and an ability to move or lift up to 25 pounds using designated equipment safely. Experience in a kitchen or service environment is preferred but not mandatory. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment and who aspire to contribute to a team that values respect, inclusion, and continuous learning.
