Job Description
This position is available at a prestigious private club known for its excellent dining and recreational services, including fine dining, golf, events, and social gatherings. The club offers its members an upscale, welcoming environment where high standards of service and customer satisfaction are paramount. With a focus on member experience, the club combines a professional yet friendly atmosphere, catering to a diverse group of members who expect quality and attentiveness during their visits. Employees enjoy working in a well-organized setting where their contributions are valued and where they interact with guests in a community-oriented environment.
The role of the Hostess at this private club is a vital part of ensuring that the dining experience exceeds member expectations. This is a part-time or full-time position where the hostess assists dining room staff by greeting and seating guests, answering phones, and managing reservations with the club's POS system. The hostess plays a key role in coordinating communication between the kitchen and service staff, maintaining order and cleanliness, and ensuring that member satisfaction standards are consistently achieved. This position requires a professional, conservative presence combined with a friendly and outgoing personality. This individual must be attentive to detail, able to remember names and faces, and capable of lifting up to 40 pounds while standing and walking for extended periods, typically around ten hours.
In addition to greeting and seating guests, the hostess also suggests and describes menu items including appetizers, entrees, desserts, alcoholic beverages, and wines, enhancing the member experience through knowledgeable service. The hostess assists with various tasks such as assigning waitstaff stations, facilitating food service communication, inspecting dining areas for cleanliness and safety, and supporting opening and closing duties. The role also includes assisting with clearing tables, resetting them, and providing additional service support when required. Supervision of waitstaff and busboys is indirectly managed under the Dining Room Manager’s direction. Opportunities to work in multiple club areas such as the clubhouse, pool, events, weddings, and golf outings provide a dynamic and engaging work environment.
This position comes with several notable perks, such as higher hourly pay than typical restaurants, automatic gratuity in the restaurant, free golf and food, a flexible schedule, and opportunities for overtime with time-and-a-half pay. The work atmosphere is enjoyable with earlier nights compared to traditional restaurants, and employees often form long-term connections, with many staying year-round or returning during school breaks. The club also offers an employee discount and a positive and supportive team environment. Overall, this role is perfect for someone who is customer-service oriented, enjoys working in a social and structured environment, and wants to be part of a respected club community.
