Job Description

Bethesda Senior Living Communities is a leading assisted living provider dedicated to enhancing the lives of seniors through compassionate care and outstanding community services. The organization is renowned for its commitment to creating a nurturing environment that emphasizes respect, dignity, and independence for its residents. As a reputable assisted living community, Bethesda prides itself on delivering a high-quality living experience where seniors feel valued, secure, and well-supported. Their mission centers on providing personalized care that addresses the physical, emotional, and social needs of every resident, fostering a vibrant and caring community atmosphere. Bethesda Senior Living Communities employs a professional and passionate team of caregivers, culinary experts, and administrative staff who work collaboratively to uphold these standards and ensure resident satisfaction.

The position of Host/Hostess at Bethesda Senior Living Communities plays a critical role in the daily functioning and excellence of the community's meal service. This full-time role is responsible for overseeing meal service operations that cater to residents, their families, and guests. A key aspect of the job involves ensuring that quality customer service is consistently delivered by designated community staff such as Care Partners, Medication Aides (CMAs, QMAPs), and other assigned personnel. The Host/Hostess manages the smooth flow of meal service by coordinating staff coverage and communicating effectively with the Culinary Services Director, Health Services Director, and Executive Director.

In this role, the Host/Hostess is also charged with maintaining professional presentation standards throughout the meal service process to create a restaurant-style dining experience for residents and guests. Responsibilities extend beyond direct meal service oversight to include the upkeep and cleanliness of dining areas and meal service zones, ensuring that the environment is inviting, well-organized, and compliant with community policies. The Host/Hostess ensures that tables and chairs are prepared and reset between services, linens and condiments are replenished, and drink and salad stations are suitably maintained.

Further, this role involves managing guest reservations and the use of private dining spaces, guaranteeing that these areas meet community standards for cleanliness and readiness. The Host/Hostess also supports training initiatives aimed at fostering teamwork and technical competence within the Health Services team. By attending staff meetings and engaging with leadership, the Host/Hostess helps relay resident, family, and guest feedback, driving continuous improvement in service quality.

This position requires a compassionate individual who demonstrates a servant-hearted approach aligned with Bethesda's mission. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and the capacity to manage stress constructively in demanding situations are essential. The Host/Hostess must be organized, motivational, and skilled in leadership to effectively coordinate a team focused on delivering exceptional dining services.

Bethesda Senior Living Communities offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, dental, and life insurance options, along with health savings accounts that feature company matching contributions. Paid vacation, personal and sick leave, holidays, and a paid volunteer program contribute to a supportive work-life balance. Additional benefits include flexible spending accounts, a company matched 403(b) plan, an employee assistance program (EAP), and wages paid on demand, reflecting Bethesda's commitment to employee well-being and satisfaction.

This role demands moderate physical activity, including occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds and frequent lifting of up to 20 pounds, with the ability to assist in lifting residents over 100 pounds. Prior experience in food production, service, sanitation, and safety is required, with supervisory experience considered a valuable asset. Bethesda Senior Living Communities invites applications on an ongoing basis until the position is filled, offering a dynamic and rewarding work environment for individuals dedicated to elder care and hospitality.
