The role of Restaurant Host/Hostess at V&E Hospitality Group is a pivotal position that serves as the initial point of contact for guests, setting the tone for their entire dining experience. This position can be full-time or part-time, allowing flexibility for applicants with various availability. The Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting guests warmly upon arrival, managing reservations efficiently, coordinating seating arrangements thoughtfully, and maintaining smooth front-of-house operations. In this role, the Restaurant Host/Hostess will handle a variety of responsibilities that contribute directly to guest satisfaction. This includes managing reservations both by phone and through online platforms to ensure organized and accurate guest lists. Balancing table availability with guest preferences and server assignments, the Host/Hostess ensures that seating is optimized and that guests are comfortably accommodated. During busy periods, waitlist management requires clear communication of estimated wait times and offering guests options such as waiting in designated areas or at the bar, contributing to a pleasant waiting experience.

Furthermore, the Host/Hostess provides detailed information about the restaurant’s offerings, including menus, daily specials, and ongoing promotions or events, engaging guests and enhancing their dining experience. Effective communication with servers and kitchen staff regarding table status, special requests, or guest concerns ensures a seamless flow of service and attention to detail. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the host stand and waiting areas, as well as keeping menus and promotional materials in pristine condition, supports the overall welcoming atmosphere.

A key component of this role also includes bidding guests a courteous farewell, expressing appreciation for their visit, and collecting feedback to promptly address any issues. Candidates with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and the capability to multitask efficiently will thrive in this position. Job Requirements

  • Ability to move throughout the dining room effectively

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a host or hostess or in a customer service role is preferred but not required
