The role of a Part-Time Host/Hostess at King & Rye Restaurant offers a unique opportunity to be integral to the guest experience in a dynamic and upscale dining environment. As the first point of contact for guests entering the restaurant, the host/hostess is responsible for creating a welcoming and positive atmosphere. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to stand throughout entire shift
  • Ability to lift and carry trays and bus tubs up to 10 pounds
  • Must be able to use tact and understanding in customer service
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Vision ability to read written communiques and computer screens
  • Physical ability to perform light cleaning and sidework duties

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience of 3 months in heavy cash handling and customer service
  • Knowledge of standard cash handling procedures
  • Familiarity with computerized cash register systems
  • Basic customer service and restaurant operation skills
  • Ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing
  • Ability to handle stressful and emotional customer situations

Job Duties

  • Meet arriving customers with a cordial greeting
  • Escort guests to assigned tables and issue menus
  • Solicit guest requests to accommodate special needs
  • Assign sections and notify servers of new seats
  • Maintain restaurant visibility and assist servers
  • Receive payments and process transactions accurately
  • Balance cash register and reconcile reports at shift end
