The role of Host/Hostess within HRI Hospitality’s Food & Beverage department is vital to setting the tone of every dining experience. As the first point of contact for guests, the Host/Hostess ensures a welcoming and professional atmosphere while maintaining smooth service flow. This position involves managing reservations, seating arrangements, and guest interactions with efficiency and a friendly demeanor. A successful candidate should possess excellent customer service and communication skills, the ability to multitask gracefully in a dynamic environment, and a professional appearance that reflects the company’s standards.

Working under the supervision of the Restaurant Supervisor, Restaurant Manager, and Food & Beverage Manager, the Host/Hostess plays an essential role in delivering outstanding service and contributing to the overall guest satisfaction. The role includes responsibilities such as greeting guests warmly, managing waitlists, escorting guests to their tables, and supporting servers and management with real-time dining room activity. Familiarity with reservation systems and point-of-sale platforms is preferred but not required, and the ability to stand and walk for extended periods is essential due to the active nature of the job.

  • Basic knowledge of reservation systems and POS platforms preferred
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

Job Duties

  • Greet guests warmly and create a positive first impression
  • Manage reservations, waitlists, and seating charts to maximize service flow
  • Escort guests to tables and communicate server sections effectively
  • Answer phones, take messages, and provide basic restaurant information
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entrance area
  • Assist with menus, to-go orders, and guest requests as needed
  • Monitor dining room activity and communicate with servers and management
  • Follow company policies, safety standards, and service procedures
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management
