Job Description

Bethesda Senior Living Communities is a trusted and compassionate provider of senior living services, dedicated to enriching the lives of elderly residents through quality care and attentive community support. Established with a mission to serve seniors with dignity and respect, Bethesda Senior Living Communities offers a welcoming residential environment that combines personalized care, engaging activities, and excellent dining experiences to foster an uplifting lifestyle for its residents. As part of a nationwide network of care communities, Bethesda emphasizes a servant heart and attitude among its staff, focusing on creating a positive environment that nurtures residents, their families, guests, and employees alike.

The organization provides a range of services encompassing health services, personal care, and beautifully maintained living spaces within peaceful and accessible surroundings. With a focus on safety, compassion, and quality, Bethesda Senior Living Communities remains committed to maintaining the highest standards in all aspects of senior care and meal service.

The role of Host/Hostess at Bethesda Senior Living Communities is vital in ensuring that the dining needs of senior residents are met with the utmost professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency. Available for both full-time and part-time positions with day and evening shifts, this position requires flexibility to work weekends and holidays in support of residents' meal enjoyment throughout the week.

As a Host/Hostess, you will oversee meal service operations to residents, their families, and guests, guaranteeing excellent customer service by the dedicated Health Services staff including Care Partners, Medication Aides (CMAs, QMAPs), and other assigned personnel. Your key responsibility will be to maintain a smooth, well-organized dining environment that adheres to professional dining standards, ensuring all resident requests are fulfilled with promptness and a friendly approach.

You will facilitate daily meal coverage by coordinating between the Culinary Services Director, Health Services Director, and Executive leadership, assist in staff training and team performance development, and oversee staff scheduling and table assignment. The role also involves supervising set up and clean up of the dining rooms, ensuring tables are attractively prepared with linens and condiments, managing drink stations or salad bars, and overseeing meal orders and delivery, including the Private Dining Room reservations.

This position demands strong organizational and leadership skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a genuine compassion for the elderly community. The Host/Hostess must demonstrate professionalism through appearance, communication, and demeanor to promote a positive and nurturing dining experience for seniors. Knowledge of food safety guidelines, sanitation, and emergency prioritization is essential.

Bethesda offers a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees, including medical (HDHP or PPO), vision, dental, life insurance, health savings accounts with company match, flexible spending accounts, company-matching 403(b) plans, paid vacation, personal/sick/holiday leave, a paid volunteer program, employee assistance programs, and wages on demand. Benefits for part-time or temporary staff may vary.

Working at Bethesda Senior Living Communities requires moderate physical activity, such as lifting objects up to 50 pounds occasionally, assisting residents over 100 pounds, and maintaining a positive attitude in a dynamic, sometimes stressful senior living environment. The organization is committed to equal opportunity employment and encourages applications continuously until the position is filled, with the possibility of wage adjustments based on market or candidate experience.
