The LineUp at Wai Kai is a premier waterfront destination located in Ewa Beach, Hawai'i, known for its exceptional dining experiences and welcoming atmosphere. This part-time, hourly Host/Hostess position is integral to setting the tone for each guest's experience from the moment they arrive at The LineUp at Wai Kai. Serving as the first point of contact, hosts and hostesses are responsible for warmly welcoming guests, managing reservations, and coordinating seating arrangements to ensure a smooth front-of-house operation. This role is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about engaging with people, excel at maintaining composure during busy service periods, and take pride in creating an organized and inviting dining environment. With opportunities to work peak shifts, weekends, and special events, this position offers valuable experience in guest service and the operational aspects of restaurant management.
Hosts and hostesses at The LineUp at Wai Kai are expected to have strong organizational skills to handle reservation systems and seating layouts efficiently. They must also have the ability to anticipate guest needs and respond promptly, maintaining professional communication with guests, team members, and management alike. Additionally, candidates will be trained to exercise good judgment in potentially sensitive situations, such as identifying intoxicated guests and escalating concerns as appropriate. The role also encompasses maintaining cleanliness and organization at the host stand and other front-of-house areas, along with supporting the overall restaurant team to ensure that guest dining areas remain pristine and ready for service.

Job Requirements
- Willingness to work long hours as needed
- ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods
- ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
- ability to perform frequent physical movements while supporting guest service
- minimum six months of host or hostess experience preferred
- ServSafe certification preferred

Job Duties
- Greet all guests warmly and professionally in accordance with Food & Beverage standards
- manage the seating process, including confirming reservations, plotting floor plans, and managing reservation inventory
- answer guest questions regarding reservations, menus, hours, and general restaurant information
- anticipate guest needs and respond promptly, even during high-volume service
- maintain complete knowledge of the reservation system and seating layout
- legibly document reservations when systems are unavailable and communicate updates to the team
- maintain knowledge of table and lounge numbers, sections, capacities, menus, and hours of operation
- exercise good judgment when identifying potentially intoxicated guests and escalate concerns appropriately
- set up, clean, and maintain the host stand, menus, seating areas, and front-of-house equipment
- complete opening and closing duties, including restocking items and preparing the host area for service
- assist the restaurant team with maintaining cleanliness of tabletops and guest areas
- ensure assigned stations and service areas are clean and properly maintained
- communicate clearly and professionally with guests, management, and team members
- work cohesively with servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff to support smooth service flow
- maintain confidentiality of guest information at all times
- perform additional duties as assigned to support Food & Beverage operations
