The position available is that of a Hostess or Front-of-House Guest Service Associate. This role is essential in setting the tone of customer engagement as the first point of contact for all guests. Responsibilities include greeting and seating customers promptly upon arrival, managing seating arrangements that best suit the party size and any special needs such as high chairs or special menus. The individual will handle customer payments in a timely manner following established cash handling procedures and will field any inquiries or concerns regarding food or service, escalating them appropriately if necessary. Beyond these frontline duties, the role entails ensuring the hostess area remains clean, well-stocked, and inviting, including managing to-go items and bakery products.

Additionally, the host will manage incoming telephone calls, taking to-go orders accurately while maintaining customer service standards. They will also periodically recommend beverages and provide refills, as well as assist service personnel with clearing and setting tables to ensure a smooth turnover and service flow. This role requires a patient and friendly demeanor, strong communication skills, and reliability. The ideal candidate should be flexible and able to work collaboratively with other team members. Physical mobility is crucial as the position requires moving around the dining and service areas efficiently.

Compliance with local health regulations and company standards regarding food handling and presentation is mandatory. The host must be capable of handling monetary transactions accurately, maintaining register totals correctly at the end of shifts, and resolving customer complaints tactfully. This position plays a key role in contributing to an excellent guest experience that encourages repeat visits and positive word-of-mouth. Job Duties

  • Greets and welcomes all customers immediately upon arrival and verifies number in their party
  • determines special needs e.g. high chairs, special menus
  • collects payment from customers immediately, in accordance with established cash handling procedures, inquires about food/service satisfaction and handles customer complaints/suggestions appropriately
  • seats customers at tables/booths appropriate for their needs and those of the restaurant, and introduces feature of the day
  • keeps hostess area stocked and clean, e.g., to-go items and bakery products
  • handles incoming telephone calls immediately and takes to go orders as appropriate
  • maintains proper supply of clean menus
  • periodically supplies customers with initial beverage suggestions and provides beverages order and refills
  • assists service personnel in cleaning and setting tables
  • resolves complaints as he/she becomes aware of them, notifying the manager of any complaints received
  • assists other service personnel as needed
