The Host position primarily involves warmly greeting and seating guests, managing wait times, and maintaining the flow of the restaurant to maximize guest satisfaction. This role requires an individual who can use a floor plan and follow seating rotations systematically to balance table assignments. The host is responsible for observing tables throughout the dining room, keeping track of clean, occupied, and dirty tables to facilitate efficient turnover. In addition, the host manages the waiting list, communicates accurate wait times, and takes and fills to-go orders when applicable. This position also includes responsibilities such as organizing menus, answering phone calls with a friendly and informed tone, maintaining restroom cleanliness, and opening doors for guests to create a positive first and last impression.
Beyond direct guest interaction, the host contributes significantly to the overall success of the restaurant's front-of-house operations. They demonstrate ownership of sidework and closing duties, ensuring the hosting area is neat and well-stocked. Job Requirements
- Previous restaurant, hospitality, customer service, or food service industry experience preferred
- strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on guest service
- must be able to read, write, and determine wait time based on company's procedures
- team player with a positive, patient attitude
- strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task with a strong work ethic
- knowledge of workplace safety procedures
- ability to lift up to 35 pounds, stand for extended periods, continuously bend, reach and twist
- must be at least 18 years old

Job Duties
- Warmly greet and seat guests
- present menus and create a positive first impression
- use a floor plan and follow a seating rotation to assign tables promoting guest satisfaction
- provide accurately quoted wait times to support smooth guest flow
- observe tables and keep track of clean, dirty, and occupied tables
- take guest information for waiting list and quote wait time to guests accurately when tables are not immediately available
- clean, organize, and stock menus at host area
- answer phone in a welcoming tone and questions concerning the menu and restaurant
- interact with guests coming in and as they leave, ensuring a positive dining experience
- open the door for all guests
- play an important role in front of house operations, supporting teamwork to enhance the overall guest experience
- take and fill to go orders, if applicable
- maintain restroom cleanliness throughout shift
- demonstrate ownership of sidework and closing tasks
