Job Description

HMSHost is a leading provider of food and beverage services in travel venues around the world. Specializing in airport, highway, and travel locations, HMSHost offers a diverse range of dining options and is committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences through its dedicated staff and innovative service models. With a strong focus on quality, customer satisfaction, and employee development, HMSHost has established itself as a trusted brand in the hospitality industry.

At the Salt Lake Airport location, HMSHost is actively seeking a Host/Hostess to join their dynamic food and beverage team. This is a non-exempt, hourly position with a competitive hourly wage ranging from $16.00 to $17.00, reflecting the importance of the role within the fast-paced airport dining environment. The host or hostess serves as the welcoming face of the restaurant, greeting guests warmly and seating them appropriately to ensure a smooth and enjoyable dining experience. Beyond greeting and seating, the host/hostess may engage in various tasks such as handling orders, refilling beverages, setting and clearing tables, and maintaining cleanliness in the dining area. This role is vital in bridging communication between the kitchen staff and the front of house, ensuring timely service and a seamless guest experience.

The successful candidate will maintain consistent attention to the restaurant entrance while adhering to HMSHost’s high customer service standards. Responsibilities include recording reservations, maintaining updated seating charts, and preparing the dining rooms for service. The host/hostess also assists in managing supplies and may occasionally perform cashier duties, ensuring efficient customer transactions and adherence to HMSHost's cash handling policies. Additionally, the role demands collaborative teamwork during slower periods, involving tasks such as rolling silverware, expediting orders, and supporting food preparation for to-go services.

The ideal candidate brings excellent organizational skills, a friendly and outgoing personality, and the physical stamina to perform job functions that require standing, bending, and twisting. Prior customer service and cash handling experience are preferred, along with the ability to effectively communicate with guests and coworkers alike. HMSHost values an inclusive workplace and is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer dedicated to diversity and providing a drug-free workplace.

Joining HMSHost means becoming part of a company that values its employees by offering comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, generous paid time off including vacation and flex days, holiday pay, meal and transportation benefits, and a 401(k) retirement plan with company match. Additional benefits include company-paid life insurance, tuition reimbursement to support continuing education, an employee assistance program, training and exciting opportunities for career growth, as well as a referral program that rewards employees for recommending friends. Benefits may vary by position, so candidates are encouraged to inquire with recruiters for more specific information.
