The Host/Hostess role is pivotal in setting the tone for an outstanding dining environment by greeting guests warmly and managing their seating arrangements efficiently. As the first point of contact for guests, you will be responsible for providing menus, answering phone calls, taking to-go orders, and coordinating with kitchen and service staff to maintain smooth restaurant operations. This role requires a blend of strong communication skills, attentiveness, and a friendly demeanor to handle guest inquiries and complaints professionally. Additionally, you will perform essential tasks such as monitoring the cleanliness of dining and restroom areas, overseeing table set-up accuracy, and ensuring guests’ needs are promptly met by coordinating with servers and bussers. Operating point-of-sale terminals, managing phone inquiries, and assisting with takeout orders are also integral to your daily responsibilities. This role demands excellent organizational capabilities combined with a genuine passion for delivering superior customer service. Being able to work on your feet for extended periods and maintain exceptional grooming standards is necessary to succeed in this role. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in customer service or hospitality preferred
  • Able to work standing for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to maintain professional appearance and demeanor
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Basic math proficiency
  • Ability to operate point-of-sale systems
  • Flexibility to work full-time or part-time
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Job Duties

  • Promote, work, and act in a consistent manner using superb customer service
  • Warmly and graciously greet all guests, seating them at tables and rotating servers
  • Open doors for guests who need assistance entering or leaving the restaurant
  • Provide guests with menus, ensuring the correct amount of flatware is at the table
  • Record guest names, number of people in party, seating preference, and arrival time when immediate seating is limited
  • Assign guests to tables suitable for their needs and server rotation
  • Call out party name when table becomes available
  • Speak with guests to ensure satisfaction, respond to complaints, or make conversation
  • Answer telephone calls and respond to inquiries or transfer calls after obtaining information
  • Maintain contact with kitchen, management, serving staff and guests to ensure service standards
  • Inspect dining and serving areas for cleanliness and proper setup
  • Inform guests of restaurant specialties and features
  • Inspect restrooms and maintain cleanliness and supplies
  • Relay messages to servers and bussers
  • Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return
  • Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests' needs and support restaurant operations
  • Fill in for fellow employees as needed to maintain service standards
  • Take and prepare to-go orders
  • Operate cash registers to accept payments
