As a cornerstone of the community, Plank offers a unique experience combining quality food, an engaging ambiance, and outstanding hospitality. Known for its dedication to guest satisfaction, the restaurant prides itself on creating memorable dining experiences for individuals, families, and groups alike. Whether you're coming in for a casual meal or celebrating a special occasion, Plank provides a warm and inviting space where every guest feels valued and cared for.

The role of Host/Hostess at Plank - Oakland is a pivotal front-of-house position that greatly influences the overall guest experience. As the first point of contact, the Host/Hostess is responsible for setting the tone upon arrival and ensuring that every guest feels welcomed and attended to. This position offers flexibility, with options for full-time or part-time employment, allowing team members to find a schedule that best suits their lifestyle. The role includes managing reservations, seating guests according to server availability, and maintaining a smooth flow of service throughout the shift.

Success in this role requires a positive attitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to effectively juggle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. The Host/Hostess must communicate clearly and courteously, handle guest inquiries and concerns with professionalism, and support the overall operations by upholding company policies and processes. Additional responsibilities such as answering phones promptly, organizing waitlists, coordinating seating assignments prior to service, and assisting other team members help to keep the restaurant running efficiently.

Beyond direct guest interaction, the Host/Hostess also plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the front area, ensuring that menus are wiped down and silverware polished regularly to meet hospitality standards. Reporting maintenance issues promptly and supporting the kitchen by communicating wait times and party sizes further contribute to a seamless dining experience. The position is dynamic and requires flexibility, enabling hosts to take on various duties assigned by management, all of which contribute to the restaurant’s reputation for excellent service.

At Plank - Oakland, the Host/Hostess role goes beyond traditional greeting responsibilities to encompass a comprehensive approach to guest relations and operational support, making it an ideal position for individuals eager to grow within the hospitality industry and be part of a dedicated team that values community and quality service.
