Job Description
The Goat Tree Host position is an essential role within the hospitality operations of Hotel Californian, a renowned establishment known for its exceptional guest services and warm atmosphere. Hotel Californian prides itself on offering a unique dining experience through its esteemed restaurant, Goat Tree, which caters to both locals and tourists seeking excellent cuisine paired with impeccable customer service. The hotel and restaurant's commitment to quality service underscores the importance of the host role, where first impressions significantly impact guest satisfaction and overall dining experiences.
As a Goat Tree Host, the individual serves as the face of the restaurant, greeting and escorting guests with courtesy and professionalism. The host ensures that every guest receives attentive service from the moment they enter until they leave, assisting with seating arrangements and coordinating reservations efficiently. This role does not only focus on the smooth flow of seating but also involves maintaining the cleanliness and readiness of the restaurant for service, thereby creating an inviting environment. The host is expected to be familiar with the operation of both the point of sale (P.O.S.) system and manual reservation procedures, demonstrating the multifaceted nature of the position.
Beyond seating and guest management, the host also acts as a vital information source, providing recommendations for local restaurants and activities, enhancing the overall guest experience. In the absence of managerial staff, the host oversees restaurant operations to maintain standards of service and safety. This includes ensuring the work environment is free from hazards that could affect guest and staff safety or efficiency. As a dynamic member of the restaurant team, the host performs various duties that contribute to the seamless operation of all phases of the restaurant service.
This position demands strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with guests and team members. Prior experience as a host is preferred, reflecting the need for familiarity with hospitality workflows and guest interaction protocols. The role is physically demanding, requiring the host to stand and walk for the entire shift and occasionally lift or move light objects. The schedule may vary, including evening, night, and weekend shifts, necessitating flexibility and reliability.
Candidates for the Goat Tree Host role must meet specific age restrictions due to the service of alcoholic beverages and possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience in a similar hospitality position is beneficial, particularly with knowledge of local attractions suited for the restaurant's demographic. The hotel supports inclusivity and reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to succeed in this role.
Overall, the Goat Tree Host plays a crucial role in upholding Hotel Californian's reputation for exceptional hospitality. This role offers an opportunity to join a passionate team dedicated to delivering memorable dining experiences and exemplary service. The host not only ensures operational efficiency but also embodies the welcoming spirit that defines Hotel Californian and Goat Tree restaurant.
