The Host or Hostess role at IHOP is integral to maintaining the restaurant's reputation for hospitality and smooth operations. This full-time, on-site position offers hourly pay ranging from $15 to $17 and does not require formal education, making it accessible to a wide range of candidates. As a Host or Hostess, you will be the first point of contact for guests, responsible for greeting them promptly, cheerfully, and courteously. Your role includes managing the seating process efficiently to reduce wait times and accommodate guests’ needs effectively, whether that means providing boosters, highchairs, or addressing accessibility requirements. Beyond greeting and seating guests, you will handle phone orders, take and record To-Go orders accurately, and ensure these are properly communicated to the kitchen staff. You will manage the waitlist during busy times, providing menu recommendations and upselling additional menu items when appropriate to enhance the guest experience.

This position requires strong multitasking skills and the ability to act quickly under pressure. You will often be standing for up to 8 hours, and must be physically capable of lifting between 25 to 50 pounds as well as performing other repetitive motions such as pushing, pulling, and stretching. Handling money transactions responsibly and showcasing teamwork and communication skills are crucial components of this role, as you will collaborate closely with both front-of-house and kitchen teams to deliver exceptional service. Maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the restaurant also falls under your responsibilities, ensuring that every guest walks into a welcoming environment.
