The company prides itself on doing things uniquely, fostering a culture of respect, camaraderie, and enthusiasm among its employees, who are affectionately called "Outbackers." Out West Restaurant Group believes in treating people "Just Right," which translates into a positive and supportive work environment focused on the success and growth of each employee.
This position is an hourly, non-exempt role with a pay rate of $16.90 per hour plus tips, offering great earning potential in a vibrant, team-oriented setting. The company supports career advancement with extensive training programs such as their Shift Leader program, emphasizing growth opportunities within the organization. The role includes a variety of engaging responsibilities centered around creating memorable first and last impressions for guests, delivering exceptional customer service, and contributing to an AUS-SOME dining experience that makes every guest’s day better.
As an Outbacker in this role, you will greet guests warmly, coordinate seating efficiently in the dining and bar areas, and ensure smooth transitions to service teams. The position requires maintaining a hospitable attitude, demonstrating teamwork across all restaurant areas as business needs arise, and complying with food safety, cleanliness, job safety, and sanitation standards. Task duties extend to bussing tables, delivering food, supporting dining room operations, and recommending menu items, ensuring that all guests receive attentive and personalized service. The employee will also answer phones professionally, lead the lobby experience, assist servers by supporting food and beverage service, and maintain a neat dining environment.
The company fosters a hospitable culture that values hard work, perseverance, leadership, and personal development. Employees can enjoy various benefits such as comprehensive health insurance (including medical, dental, and vision coverage), paid sick leave in accordance with California laws, meal discounts, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and the unique perk of having Thanksgiving and Christmas Day off to spend time with family and friends. Different scheduling options are available to support a healthy work-life balance while meeting the needs of the business. Out West Restaurant Group is recognized with notable awards including the Monitor 200 Award for being ranked among the Top 50 franchisees in the U.S. for four consecutive years and the International Franchise Association’s Franchisee of the Year Award in 2022 for community service excellence.
The company actively promotes fairness, respect, and equal opportunity in its hiring practices, strictly adhering to federal and state laws concerning nondiscrimination. It also complies with California wage laws, including minimum wage, overtime, meal periods, rest breaks, and split shift pay regulations. New hires must complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), and responsible beverage service certification is required for California-based employees, which can be completed during training. This position offers those seeking a dynamic and rewarding role within a passionate and well-supported team the chance to join a company committed to treating both its employees and guests just right.
