Job Description

Freehand Hotels is a shared accommodation brand renowned for its culturally rich, socially vibrant, and design-driven hospitality experiences across some of the United States' coolest urban cities, including New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, and Chicago. Founded with a mission to provide a fresh take on urban travel accommodations, Freehand combines the social culture of a hotel with innovative and sophisticated design by Roman and Williams, offering guests comfort, quality food and beverage options, and an engaging atmosphere at an affordable price point. Fast Company has recognized Freehand as one of the top 50 most innovative global companies, underscoring its commitment to redefining hospitality and creating unique experiences for a new generation of travelers. The brand not only offers exceptional lodging but also integrates deeply into the local community through curated events, artistic activations, and cultural engagements that reflect the distinctive vibe of each city it inhabits.

Specifically, Freehand Los Angeles operates out of the historic Commercial Exchange building in downtown LA, presenting an extraordinary blend of suites, premium hotel rooms, and shared accommodations all adorned with interiors designed by Roman and Williams. The property has quickly become a dynamic fixture in the downtown LA scene, with notable venues such as the Broken Shaker rooftop bar and pool, Rudolph's Bar and Tea Bar, The Exchange Restaurant, and Cafe Integral available to guests and locals alike. The hotel's location places it within walking distance of a variety of restaurants, bars, markets, and hotspots, generating a lively energy that enhances both guest stays and staff work experiences.

The role of Host at Freehand Los Angeles is a vital part-time position primarily scheduled for weekend morning shifts. As a Host, you will be the first point of contact for guests, responsible for warmly welcoming and seating guests, managing table setups, and ensuring an exceptional guest experience from arrival to departure. Your interaction with guests will be key to fostering a friendly and engaging atmosphere consistent with Freehand's brand values. Additionally, this hybrid role includes assisting in other areas of Food and Beverage, providing variety and a comprehensive understanding of the hospitality services offered. This position requires someone with a positive and enthusiastic attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations. Experience in hospitality and customer service is essential, with any prior Food and Beverage experience considered a strong plus. Understanding food hygiene regulations is also important to ensure compliance and safety throughout operations.

In addition to a dynamic work environment, Freehand Los Angeles offers a compelling benefits package designed to support employee well-being and career growth. Noteworthy perks include a birthday holiday in addition to regular vacation days, paid leave for fertility treatments, an employee referral bounty program, subsidized gym memberships, and both local and international career opportunities. Staff members benefit from discounted room rates across multiple locations, complimentary accommodation nights, and access to social events and employee recognition programs. This role not only offers a chance to join a top-ranked innovative global company but also an opportunity for personal and professional development in a vibrant hospitality community.
