Job Description
Sage is a distinguished hospitality company dedicated to creating an inclusive and dynamic community where creativity, passion, and belonging are at the heart of everything we do. As a leading restaurant establishment, Sage prides itself on delivering exceptional dining experiences that go beyond just serving food – we aim to create memorable moments for every guest who walks through our doors. Our culture is built on collaboration, innovation, and a genuine love for hospitality, making Sage a special place for both patrons and employees alike.
The role of a Restaurant Cashier at Sage is a vital position that ensures the smooth and courteous operation of the restaurant from the moment customers arrive until they leave. This is an hourly position with a pay rate of USD 7.50 per hour, designed for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. The Restaurant Cashier is the first point of contact for guests, responsible for greeting and seating them, managing payment transactions, and supporting the overall service provided by the restaurant staff. This role is essential in establishing rapport with guests, accommodating their special needs, and maintaining a positive dining atmosphere.
In this position, the Restaurant Cashier handles a variety of duties including welcoming customers, processing payments accurately using computerized cash register systems, and verifying payment details such as pricing, discounts, and authorization. Additionally, this role involves monitoring the restaurant floor to ensure efficient service and assisting servers as needed. The cashier also plays a key role in collecting customer feedback to improve service and maximize revenue. Maintaining an organized and clean environment is another responsibility, as well as reporting any maintenance or housekeeping issues to management.
The ideal candidate for this role will have at least a high school diploma or equivalent and experience of at least three months in a position involving heavy cash handling and customer service exposure. They must possess strong mathematical skills, knowledge of standard cash handling procedures, and familiarity with computerized cash registers. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are essential, as is the ability to handle potentially stressful customer service situations with tact and professionalism.
Physical ability to perform tasks such as standing for long periods, lifting up to 10 pounds, and navigating a dimly lit restaurant environment is necessary. The work environment is mostly indoors and requires physical activities like walking, carrying, lifting, and bending throughout the shift. Sage is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities to ensure they can perform the essential functions of the role.
Joining Sage means becoming part of a community that values each individual’s contributions and fosters growth and creativity in the hospitality industry. This role offers an excellent opportunity for those looking to develop their skills, gain experience in a reputable restaurant setting, and be part of a team dedicated to exceptional service and the future of hospitality.
