The role of a Host/Hostess at Keke's Breakfast Cafe is fundamental to ensuring guests receive an outstanding dining experience right from the moment they enter the restaurant. As a Host/Hostess, your primary responsibility will be to warmly welcome and graciously greet all guests upon arrival, making them feel valued and comfortable. You will manage guest seating by assigning tables based on their preferences and by balancing customer flow across service sections to maintain smooth and timely operations. When tables are not immediately available, you will record guest information and provide accurate wait times while ensuring the guest remains engaged and informed through prompt paging when their table is ready. Exceptional communication skills are essential, as you will need to interact effectively with guests in the predominant languages spoken at the location. Being in a standing position for up to 8 hours requires physical stamina, and maintaining impeccable grooming habits is a must to adhere to the company’s professional appearance standards.
Additional responsibilities include accommodating special seating requests as much as possible, escorting guests to their tables with menus and silverware, informing them of their server's name, and ensuring a polite and appreciative send-off as guests leave, encouraging their return. Keeping the host area, floors, and entryway glass clean and welcoming also falls within the scope of this role. The dress code is clearly outlined; all employees must wear dark blue jeans, a black belt, and black non-slip shoes from day one, with no visible tattoos when wearing the short-sleeve polo shirt.
Because each franchise location is individually owned and managed, all hiring decisions and employment inquiries are handled by the respective franchisee’s management team. - Must be available 6:00 am to 4:00 pm everyday including holidays
- Full time applicants must consider Keke's as their primary place of employment
- All employees must have dark blue jeans with a black belt and black non-slip shoes on the first day of work
- No visible tattoos when wearing a short sleeve polo shirt
Job Qualifications
- No previous restaurant experience required
- Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in the predominant language(s) of our guests
- Must have exceptional grooming habits
- Ability to warmly and graciously greet and interact with guests
- Capability to stand for long periods
Job Duties
- Warmly and graciously greet all guests upon arrival
- When possible greet guests entering the restaurant
- When immediate seating is unavailable, record guest names, number of people in party and issue pager
- Provide guests with estimated waiting time
- Page guest when tables become available
- Thank guest for waiting
- Ask the number of children in their party
- Walk guest with menus and silverware wraps to table
- Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible
- Seat guests based on preferences and balancing of customer flow in service sections
- Upon seating, inform guest of their server's name
- Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return
- Keep host area, floors and door glass clean
