Job Description

We are a busy and well-established restaurant known for providing exceptional dining experiences to our guests. Located in a vibrant area with a high volume of diners, our establishment prides itself on delivering not only delicious meals but also outstanding customer service. Our team is dedicated to maintaining a welcoming and efficient environment where guests feel comfortable and valued from the moment they walk through the door. We are currently seeking a friendly, energetic, and organized hostess to join our team and contribute to the smooth operation of our front-of-house services.

The role of the hostess is crucial in setting the tone for each guest's visit. As the first point of contact, the hostess greets guests warmly as they enter the restaurant and efficiently manages seating arrangements. This position demands strong communication skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and excellent customer service orientation. The hostess will be responsible for managing a waiting list during busy times, distributing menus, answering initial questions about our offerings, and seating guests according to their preferences while ensuring equitable table rotation among servers. An important aspect of this role is to actively engage with guests during their meals to ensure satisfaction and promptly address any concerns by escalating issues to management when necessary.

In addition to guest interactions, the hostess handles phone calls, takes reservations, and provides general information about the restaurant. Flexibility is key, as the hostess may also assist other restaurant team members when needed, especially during peak hours. This is a fast-paced role that requires standing for extended periods, managing multiple tasks simultaneously, and maintaining a positive attitude throughout long shifts. While previous restaurant experience is a plus, we value a willingness to learn and a commitment to providing excellent customer service above all else.

The ideal candidate must be able to handle physical demands such as standing for long periods and carrying trays safely, work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and be comfortable using point-of-sale systems to handle payments accurately. Availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential due to the restaurant’s operating hours. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to provide top-notch customer service in a fast-paced environment

  • Able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food/dishes when necessary

Job Duties

  • Greeting guests as they enter and putting them on a waiting list as necessary
  • Providing guests with menus and answering any initial questions
  • Seating guests at tables
  • Assigning guests to tables they prefer, while keeping table rotation in mind so that servers receive the right number of customers
  • Engaging with guests to ensure they’re happy with food and service
  • Responding to complaints and helping to resolve them by seeking a manager
  • Answering phone calls, taking reservations, and answering questions
  • Knowledge of the menu
  • Helping with other positions in the restaurant as needed
  • Providing great customer service
