The role of Host/Hostess at Matchbox is pivotal in shaping the guest experience from the moment patrons walk through the door. As the welcoming face of the restaurant, the Host ensures every guest feels valued and creates a warm, inviting atmosphere that reflects the vibrant spirit of Matchbox. The Host will manage waitlists, coordinate seating arrangements efficiently, and provide guests with accurate information about menus, specials, and restaurant policies. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role preferred
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Basic knowledge of reservation or seating software is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Physical ability to lift up to 20 lbs
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in high volume, upscale casual dining or an equivalent service environment preferred
  • Able to work flexible shifts and schedules, inclusive of weekends, and some holidays
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours)
  • Lift and carry up to 20 lbs (e.g., menus, high chairs, booster seats)
  • Reach, bend, and stoop occasionally
  • Use hands and arms to operate reservation systems and phones
  • Clear verbal communication skills and ability to interact with guests in a busy environment
  • Ability to remain calm and composed while multitasking in a fast-pace setting
