Job Description

This position is with a well-established Food & Beverage department that prides itself on delivering exceptional dining experiences to its members and guests. The department operates within a prestigious club environment, where hospitality and guest satisfaction are paramount. With a strong focus on seamless service and attention to detail, the team is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in food and beverage operations. This seasonal, non-exempt, hourly role is compensated at $18.00 per hour, providing an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a dynamic and interactive job in the hospitality industry.

The Host/Hostess acts as the first point of contact for all members and guests, playing a crucial role in setting the tone for their overall dining experience. This role requires a warm, welcoming, and professional demeanor, as the Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting guests by name when possible, escorting them to their tables, and presenting menus and daily features. In addition to creating a friendly atmosphere, this position involves managing reservations and waitlists using specialized Point of Sale systems like Club Essential POS and Host Me, ensuring that the front-of-house team works cohesively to provide an organized and efficient environment.

Beyond managing seating, the Host/Hostess is integral in supporting the overall restaurant flow. Duties include answering phone inquiries related to reservations and to-go orders, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entry areas, polishes and rolls silverware as needed, and assisting with buffet and event setups and breakdowns. The role demands strong multitasking capabilities in a fast-paced setting, alongside excellent communication and organizational skills.

Working closely with food and beverage managers and the rest of the front-of-house team, the Host / Hostess will attend pre-shift meetings to stay aligned with service standards and food safety regulations. This collaborative team spirit is essential for providing courteous and prompt service to all members and guests, managing dining room flow, communicating effectively with servers and bartenders, and addressing any member concerns or issues by reporting them to management.

Physical demands include standing and walking for extended periods, occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, and working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Working evenings, weekends, and holidays is part of the position's schedule, reflecting the nature of the hospitality industry. Safety awareness around hot surfaces, wet floors, and typical restaurant equipment is also required to ensure a safe working environment.

Overall, this Host/Hostess role is ideal for individuals who are friendly, outgoing, reliable, and eager to learn the club's standards and procedures. The opportunity to join a supportive team that values service excellence and member satisfaction makes this position rewarding for candidates passionate about hospitality. Additional duties may be assigned as business needs dictate, offering a well-rounded experience in food and beverage operations within a vibrant club setting.
