The role of Host/Hostess at Denny's is critical as it often forms the very first and last impression guests have of the restaurant. Pay for this position typically ranges between $12.00 and $14.14 per hour, depending on location and experience. Job Qualifications

  • cash handling experience is beneficial
  • ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • teamwork and willingness to assist others
  • basic knowledge of food and beverage service

Job Duties

  • Greet and welcome customers immediately upon arrival and verify number in their party
  • determine special needs such as high chairs or special menus
  • seat customers at tables or booths appropriate for their needs and introduce feature of the day
  • suggest new menu items from limited-time offerings
  • receive payment and make correct change in accordance with cash handling procedures
  • assist with beverages including bold, signature, or flavored coffees
  • clean, complete side work, and organize supplies as needed
  • assist other team members willingly without being asked
  • provide total guest satisfaction by handling complaints and suggestions appropriately
  • keep hostess area stocked and clean including to-go items and bakery products
  • handle incoming telephone calls immediately and take to-go orders
  • maintain proper supply of clean menus
  • periodically supply customers with initial beverage suggestions and provide beverage order and refills
  • assist service personnel in clearing and setting tables
  • resolve complaints promptly by notifying the manager when necessary
  • assist other service personnel as needed
