Job Description
Pizzana is a renowned restaurant based in Brentwood, California, known for its authentic Neo Neapolitan pizzas crafted from a unique "slow dough" technique developed by Daniele Uditi, an artisan who learned his craft growing up in Naples, Italy. Founded in April 2017 by culinary visionaries Daniele Uditi alongside Candace and Charles Nelson, the couple behind Sprinkles Cupcakes, and Caroline and Chris O'Donnell, Pizzana is a celebrated dining destination admired by celebrities and pizza lovers internationally. The position available is for a Host/Hostess who will serve as the first point of contact for guests at Pizzana. This role is crucial in ensuring a welcoming and smooth dining experience for patrons. The host or hostess is responsible for greeting guests warmly, seating them at tables appropriate for their needs, and maintaining a well-organized seating rotation to balance server workloads efficiently. Reporting to the General Manager, the host/hostess acts as a liaison among guests, kitchen staff, management, and servers to ensure that customer concerns are swiftly addressed and dining details are managed effectively.
In addition, the host/hostess handles a variety of front-of-house duties including answering telephone inquiries, assisting takeout guests and delivery drivers, inspecting dining and serving areas for cleanliness, and managing dining reservations. The role also involves maintaining the cleanliness and readiness of restrooms. This position requires excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, and a positive attitude that aligns with Pizzana's values and culture.
This part-time position offers a competitive wage of $17.87 per hour plus tips, along with the benefit of a free meal when working. Candidates should be at least 17 years old and ideally have at least one year of experience in the food industry. The physical demands of the job include the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and adapt to different working environments including both warm and cool temperatures. The role requires tolerance to noise from music and customer traffic as well as potential allergens encountered during daily operations.

Job Requirements
- Must be at least 17 years of age
- minimum of 1 years’ experience in the food industry is preferred
- must have the ability/stamina to work a minimum of 25 hours a week
- ability to stand/walk for 4-8 hours per day
- must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- will frequently reach, feel, bend, stoop, carry, finely manipulate and key in data
- must be able to work in both warm and cool environments, indoors and outdoors
- must be able to tolerate higher levels of noise from music and customer traffic
- must be able to tolerate potential allergens including peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish

Job Duties
- Provide guests with menus
- assign guests to tables suitable for their needs and according to rotation so that servers receive an appropriate number of seatings
- speak with guests to ensure satisfaction with food and service, or to respond to questions and complaints
- answer telephone calls and respond to inquiries or transfer calls
- assist with takeout guests and delivery drivers
- maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, serving staff, and guests to ensure that dining details are handled properly and guests’ concerns are addressed
- inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup
- inform guests of establishment specialties and features
- receive and record guests' dining reservations
- inspect restrooms for cleanliness and availability of supplies and clean restrooms when necessary
