Job Description
St. Luke's University Health Network is a renowned healthcare organization that prides itself on the skills, experience, and compassion of its employees. At St. Luke's, employees are considered the most valuable asset, contributing individually and collectively to the mission of the organization. This mission centers around an unwavering commitment to excellence in caring for the sick and injured, educating physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers, and improving access to care in the communities served, regardless of a patient's ability to pay for care. Established as a national leader in healthcare, St. Luke's continues to expand and innovate to meet the evolving needs of patients and the communities it serves.
One of the newest exciting chapters in St. Luke's history is the largest expansion ever at its Anderson Campus, scheduled to open in Fall 2026. The expansion includes a state-of-the-art Heart Hospital with advanced technology and treatments, adding 150 inpatient beds, 10 cutting-edge operating rooms, and 10 advanced interventional suites. The Anderson Campus itself spans 500 acres and has grown into a nationally recognized teaching hospital with distinguished programs such as the Trauma Center and the region's most advanced tertiary obstetrics program. This growth is fueled by patient demand and the dedication and compassion of its physicians, nurses, and care teams. As part of this dynamic, fast-growing environment, St. Luke's offers professionals the opportunity to thrive and make a meaningful impact on their communities.
Currently, St. Luke's is hiring for the position of Host/Hostess at the Anderson Campus in a part-time capacity with a work schedule of 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This role is essential in supporting patient meal service, ensuring patient satisfaction, and acting as a vital liaison between patients, their families, nursing staff, and food service operations. The Host/Hostess is responsible for preparing, delivering, and picking up patient trays; communicating menu preferences; and managing nourishment deliveries and floor supply inventory. Exceptional customer service is a key element of this position, and the Host/Hostess plays a crucial role in enhancing the patient experience by assuring that dietary needs and preferences are met according to nutritional care orders.
The position also demands proficiency with technology systems including the Vision-Meals Your Way computerized ordering system and EPIC for managing reports and downtime procedures. Hosts/Hostesses will demonstrate a strong understanding of diet information to assist patients and ensure they receive appropriate care, referring patients to dietitians when further education is necessary. Physical requirements include the ability to walk up to 7 hours with breaks, stand, lift, push, and pull weights up to 50 pounds, and perform tasks that may involve stooping, bending, climbing, and reaching. Strong communication skills in English are required, and while customer service or food service experience is preferred, on-the-job training will be provided.
Joining St. Luke's means becoming part of an extraordinary healthcare network dedicated to compassionate patient care, professional development, and community health advancement. This role offers candidates the chance to be involved in a significant phase of growth at the Anderson Campus and to contribute meaningfully to patient satisfaction and healthcare delivery. If you are a flexible, team-oriented professional eager to make a lasting impact, St. Luke's invites you to apply and be part of shaping the future of heart care.
