Job Description

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Customer service experience is a plus
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Friendly and personable demeanor
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • No previous restaurant experience required
  • Able to work in a standing position for up to 6 hours
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively in the predominant language(s) of guests
  • Must have exceptional grooming habits

Job Duties

  • Answer phone professionally and according to restaurant standard
  • Warmly and graciously greet all guests upon arrival
  • Open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant when possible
  • Know restaurant standards, table numbers, wait sections, menu, specials, and answer customer questions effectively
  • Take reservations and enter on OpenTable according to restaurant standards
  • Record guest names and party sizes on OpenTable wait list when immediate seating is limited
  • Provide guests with estimated waiting time
  • Call out name and number of party when tables become available
  • Accommodate special seating requests whenever possible
  • Seat guests based on preferences and balance customer flow
  • Re-work reservations and sections to accommodate walk-ins and last-minute reservations
  • Inform management and staff of changes
  • Offer guests menus and inform them of their server's name upon seating
  • Inspect table for proper presentation and completeness
  • Relay messages to servers, bus, and manager as needed
  • Keep the reception area clean and tidy
  • Assist with bussing and drink service if time permits
  • Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return
  • Fill in as needed to ensure smooth restaurant operation as directed by manager or supervisor
