The Host and Cashier role at Bob Evans is essential in delivering the welcoming and efficient service that guests expect. This position involves warmly greeting guests as they arrive, guiding them to their seats, and ensuring a smooth flow of the restaurant by managing seating efficiently. Hosts and cashiers provide menus and kid packs, maintain cleanliness in the lobby, bakery, and retail areas, and conduct regular restroom checks to keep all spaces tidy. They actively engage with guests to enhance the dining experience and handle guest complaints effectively by involving management when necessary. This role also includes handling cash and credit transactions accurately, promoting new products and marketing initiatives, sanitizing and resetting tables, managing guest wait times, and performing additional duties as needed.

Success in this position requires outstanding guest service skills, the ability to identify and resolve problems promptly, and excellent attention to detail combined with multitasking capabilities. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively are also vital. A basic understanding of cash handling, credit card processing, and familiarity with POS systems is important for this role. Physical demands include standing and walking for long periods, lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds, bending and reaching as necessary, and communicating effectively with guests and team members.

Job Requirements

  • 0-2 years of related experience preferred
  • knowledge of common restaurant practices and concepts
  • ability to stand for the duration of the shift and walk for long periods
  • ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • ability to bend, stoop, and reach as necessary
  • strong verbal communication skills
  • visual engagement in various tasks including using and adjusting focus
  • ability to navigate all areas of the restaurant, stock areas, and registers with ease
