Job Description

Crosswater Grille, located within the scenic Sunriver Resort, is a distinguished dining establishment renowned for its warm hospitality and exceptional service. Crosswater Grille is currently seeking a friendly, outgoing, and professional Host to serve as the first point of contact for all guests. The Host or Hostess is a pivotal role, responsible for establishing the warm, inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for the entire dining experience. This position demands a personable individual who displays a genuine smile and exhibits professionalism in every interaction. As the first person guests encounter upon entering the restaurant, the Host’s presence is essential in shaping the guests' initial and overall impressions.

The Host or Hostess will greet guests warmly, handle inquiries, manage reservations, and assist with service within the restaurant. Operating in alignment with the Sunriver Resort culture and values, the Host supports the resort’s vision to be the premier destination for visitors and residents. This role involves managing seating arrangements efficiently to maximize capacity while ensuring guest comfort and satisfaction. Utilizing proper procedures in guest communication, including telephone etiquette and paging, the Host helps ensure a seamless flow of service.

Additional responsibilities include escorting guests to their tables, distributing menus, managing waitlists during busy periods, and assisting servers with tasks like beverage refills and table clearing as needed. The Host also plays a role in training new team members and leading host team operations by coaching and directing to maintain excellent service standards. This position requires standing for extended periods, physical activity such as lifting up to 20 lbs frequently and occasionally over 40 lbs with assistance, and the ability to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and navigate uneven surfaces.

Job Duties

  • Clock in and check in with the manager-on-duty
  • greet and welcome every guest as they enter the lodge restaurants
  • acknowledge and thank all guests as they depart
  • confirm the number of people in each party and inquire about special needs or requests
  • record necessary information on waiting lists during busy periods
  • use proper paging procedures when paging guests
  • escort guests to tables and distribute menus
  • ensure proper table setup and even seating rotation
  • maximize restaurant seating capacity
  • use proper telephone procedures
  • assist servers with beverage refills and table clearing as directed
  • complete assigned side work such as menu trading and stocking supplies
  • comply with all Sunriver policies, procedures, and safety regulations
  • train and welcome new hosts and hostesses
  • lead and direct host team flow and service
  • communicate guest information and feedback with management
  • perform other duties as assigned
