Job Description

IHOP, a renowned leader in the casual family dining restaurant industry, is seeking friendly and attentive hosts and hostesses to join their team. As one of the largest operators of IHOP Casual Family Dining restaurants, this establishment values its employees deeply and has fostered a large, loyal employee base. IHOP is recognized for its commitment to providing a quality dining experience to guests, and this is reflected not just in the food but in the warm, welcoming atmosphere created by its staff. They ensure that every team member is supported and given the tools to succeed, valuing professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency.

The host or hostess plays a critical role in the success of the restaurant by greeting and seating guests promptly, cheerfully, and courteously. This role involves making every effort to enhance the quality of the guest's dining experience from the moment they step through the door. Hosts ensure that guests feel welcomed and valued, managing the flow of seating and maintaining order during busy times by rotating station seating effectively. Key responsibilities include handling guest complaints diplomatically, inquiring about the guest's experience to ensure satisfaction, and inviting guests to return, fostering loyalty and repeat business.

The position also requires the host to take on administrative duties such as answering telephones, taking messages, and managing all To Go orders, ensuring smooth operations behind the scenes. The host maintains a waiting list when necessary and ensures restrooms are checked hourly for cleanliness and proper stock levels, contributing to the overall positive impression of the restaurant.

This is a role suitable for individuals comfortable with standing and walking for extended periods, communicating clearly, and being aware of their surroundings at all times. The physical demands include occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 25 pounds and performing other movements such as stooping and kneeling. IHOP is committed to accommodating individuals with disabilities, ensuring equal opportunities for all candidates.

The role is available for full-time and part-time employment, with shifts that may include 8 or 10-hour stints, weekend availability, weekdays, holidays, and day or night shifts, including overtime options. The starting pay is $8 per hour—an attractive entry point for those looking to work in a supportive, fast-paced environment with opportunities for growth. Benefits offered to employees include health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as flexible scheduling to help balance work with personal commitments.

Working on-site at IHOP provides the chance to be part of a dynamic team in a fun and family-friendly environment, where your efforts directly impact the customer experience. If you enjoy engaging with people, can handle a bustling work environment with a smile, and want to be part of a company that values its employees, this hosting opportunity at IHOP is an excellent fit.
