The Host position at Atlas Restaurant Group plays a crucial role as the first point of contact for guests, setting the tone for their dining experience. The Host creates a positive first impression through friendly greetings, managing waitlists, facilitating reservations, and ensuring guests feel welcomed and attended to throughout their visit. Hosts are responsible for coordinating the seating, communicating guest needs to staff, managing to-go orders, answering phones, and maintaining cleanliness of the host station and menus. Job Requirements
- Must have a valid form of identification
- must have the knowledge to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- must have the knowledge to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and tips
- must have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- must have the ability to read, understand and follow both verbal and written company directives and initiatives
- must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of government policies and regulations
- must have the ability to effectively answer questions and speak before groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public at restaurant locations
- must have the ability to use common sense to understand and carry out written and oral instructions
- must have the ability to creatively solve problems in a fast paced environment using experience and an outside-the-box mindset
- must be able to learn and utilize Toast Point-of-Sale (POS), Restaurant365 systems and OpenTable
- ability to stand, walk, reach, and handle objects regularly
- ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and occasionally lift or carry up to 50 pounds
- ability to sit, climb stairs and maintain balance occasionally
- must have close, distance, and peripheral vision with depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- must have sufficient mobility or agility to respond quickly to fire or other emergencies
Job Qualifications
- Guest service experience in hospitality industry is preferred
- basic knowledge of English is highly preferred
- strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
- excellent customer service skills with a polite and attentive demeanor
- ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- basic understanding of cleanliness and sanitation standards
- flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- may require a food handler's certification depending on local regulations
- knowledge of Toast Point-of-Sale (POS), Restaurant365 systems, and OpenTable
Job Duties
- Ensure dress code policy is followed consistently
- interact with guest, create reservations
- assess guest needs and requirements for an unforgettable experience
- inform manager and servers/bartenders of guest special occasion
- keep host stand clean and organized
- ensure menus are clean and ready for service
- perform daily and weekly cleaning duties, as well as periodical bathroom checks
- rotate seating between different sections to ensure even workloads for servers
