Job Requirements

  • Promote and act in a manner consistent with Smithfield Station's mission
  • warmly and graciously greet all guests and seat them appropriately
  • open doors for guests when possible
  • provide guests with menus and server information
  • record guest names and party sizes and provide wait times
  • assign appropriate tables considering server rotation
  • call out guest names when tables are ready
  • communicate with guests to ensure satisfaction
  • answer telephone calls promptly
  • maintain contact with kitchen, management, and serving staff
  • inspect dining areas for cleanliness and setup
  • inform guests of specialties and features
  • receive and record reservations
  • inspect and clean restrooms as necessary
  • direct guests to coatrooms and lounges
  • relay messages to servers and bussers
  • thank guests on departure and invite return
  • attend scheduled meetings and offer suggestions
  • assist fellow employees to meet guest needs
  • fill in for fellow employees to ensure service standards
  • take and prepare to-go orders
  • operate cash registers to accept payments

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous experience in customer service or hospitality preferred
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently

  • basic cash handling skills
  • ability to work well in a team environment

Job Duties

  • Provide friendly, responsive service

  • assign guests to suitable tables ensuring server rotation

  • communicate with guests to ensure satisfaction and respond to complaints
  • maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, and serving staff
  • inspect dining and serving areas for cleanliness and setup
  • inform guests of specials and features
  • receive and record dining reservations
