Job Description

IHOP, also known as the International House of Pancakes, is a globally recognized restaurant chain that has been serving customers since 1958. It is renowned for providing a warm and welcoming environment where people connect over breakfast, enjoy study breaks, grab a bite before or after sporting events, and much more. IHOP prides itself on creating an atmosphere filled with smiles, which has become a fundamental part of its culture. The company even incorporated a smile into its logo to emphasize the importance of positive experiences and customer satisfaction. Over the years, IHOP has developed a reputation for high-quality food and exceptional customer service, ensuring that guests leave with pleasant memories and a desire to return.

The role being offered is a full-time position as a Host at IHOP. The primary responsibility of the Host is to greet and seat guests promptly, cheerfully, and courteously in order to enhance their dining experience. Hosts play a crucial role in the front-of-house operations, serving as the first point of contact for guests and setting the tone for their visit. This position requires outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with both employees and guests. The Host is responsible for managing table seating effectively, ensuring that guests are seated quickly as tables become available, and rotating station seating to maintain service quality. Additionally, the Host may handle guest complaints, inquire about the guests' dining experiences, and extend gratitude while inviting guests to return, thus fostering customer loyalty.

In addition to greeting and seating guests, the Host manages telephone communications by answering calls, taking messages, and processing all to-go orders efficiently. They maintain an organized waiting list as needed and ensure restrooms are clean and adequately stocked by performing hourly checks. The physical demands of the job require the Host to stand, walk, talk, hear, move their hands to handle controls or objects, and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or lift up to 25 pounds. Accommodation for individuals with disabilities is provided to help them perform the essential functions of the job.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a rewarding full-time position in a friendly and fast-paced restaurant environment. It is perfect for those who enjoy interacting with people, working in a team-oriented setting, and contributing to memorable dining experiences. IHOP’s commitment to smiles and customer satisfaction means that Hosts play a vital role in sustaining the warm and inviting atmosphere that keeps customers coming back. The position requires dedication, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy setting. Employment with IHOP as a Host promises professional growth, skill development, and the chance to be part of a renowned restaurant brand dedicated to quality service and positive guest interactions.
