The Hostess role is an essential part of this restaurant’s team, tasked with warmly greeting guests as they walk in, providing them with attentive and prompt service, and managing seating arrangements in an organized manner. The hostess serves as the first point of contact and is instrumental in setting the tone for the guests’ dining experience. Responsibilities include welcoming guests with a smile, managing waitlists during peak times, and ensuring that guests are seated in accordance with their preferences while balancing floor traffic between service sections for efficient service. The hostess also supports the operational flow by assisting with cleanliness and maintenance tasks, such as helping bus tables, maintaining the cleanliness of the hostess stand and foyer, and performing regular checks and stocking of restrooms. In addition to these duties, providing accurate information regarding wait times and communicating effectively with the wait staff helps maximize the efficiency of the restaurant’s front-of-house operations. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work on one’s feet for extended periods. Job Duties

  • Warmly and graciously greet all guests upon arrival
  • When possible, open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant
  • When immediate seating is limited, record guest names and the number of people in their party
  • Call out name and number of party when tables become available
  • Provide guests with estimated waiting time
  • Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible
  • Seat guests based on guest preferences and balancing of customer flow in service stations
  • Help bus tables and help keep floors clean
  • Keep hostess stand and closet clean and stocked
  • Clean all windows in the foyer
  • Stock bathrooms and make sure they stay clean with hourly bathroom checks
  • Upon seating, offer guests a menu and inform them of their server's name
  • Inspect table for proper presentation and completeness
  • Relay messages to servers as needed
  • Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return
  • Answer the phone with a smile and the correct greeting
