This position is for a part-time Host role at Pizza Nova, reporting directly to the General Manager and the management team. The host acts as the first point of contact for guests entering the restaurant, promoting a warm and inviting atmosphere that encourages repeat visits. The role is crucial in managing the flow of the dining room, greeting and seating guests, handling reservations, and supporting other service team members as needed. This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $16.00 to $17.00 per hour and is tip eligible, recognizing the importance of excellent customer service in the hospitality industry.

The Host at Pizza Nova plays a vital role in delivering top-notch guest service and maintaining efficient restaurant operations. Responsibilities include greeting guests with genuine enthusiasm, managing reservations through the company's point-of-sale and booking systems, and providing accurate information to guests regarding wait times and seating arrangements. The host must be vigilant in recognizing large parties or special events and directing guests accordingly to facilitate smooth service flow. The position also involves monitoring restaurant capacity and availability to optimize seating cadence and alert management to any potential issues or delays.

In addition to primary front-of-house duties, the host supports the service team by assisting with bussing tables, setting up dining areas, maintaining cleanliness of the host stand, and ensuring menus are clean and up to date. Employees are expected to adhere to strict hygiene practices, including proper handwashing and cleaning protocols, to uphold safety standards in a fast-paced and often busy restaurant environment. Additional cleaning tasks and side work will be assigned periodically to maintain the overall presentation and readiness of the restaurant.

Previous experience in the hospitality or service industry is a plus, as is availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the operational needs of the restaurant. Holding a current Food Handler Card is mandatory, with new hires given 30 days to obtain certification if not already in possession. Job Duties

  • Acknowledge all guests entering and exiting the restaurant with genuine greetings, salutations, and thank you's
  • answer phones following proper company procedures
  • answer questions and general inquiries
  • route calls to management and/or take messages as appropriate
  • take and manage restaurant reservations using company POS and booking system
  • be aware of large parties and events and help to direct guests accordingly
  • seat guests at tables, provide menus, and alert the service team to the new table
  • track restaurant capacity and table availability to determine desirable seating cadence and provide estimate wait times to guests
  • alert management if issues arise with table availability or if reservation times are not being met
  • ensure the host stand and restaurant entry are clean and presentable at all times
  • assist service team with bussing and setting tables to help ensure availability for new guests
  • ensure menus are current, clean, and presentable
  • assist with other side work and tasks as needed including stocking the host stand and service areas, setting tables, cleaning
  • follow proper cleaning and handwashing standards
  • perform additional duties and projects such as deep cleaning tasks as assigned
