Job Description
IHOP, established in 1958, is a beloved restaurant chain renowned for bringing people together over breakfast, study breaks, and meals before or after events. With a longstanding tradition of serving great food in a friendly atmosphere, IHOP prides itself on being a place where smiles are as important as the menu items. This commitment to smile and excellent service is so integral to IHOP's culture that it is even reflected in its logo. The brand is known for its inviting ambiance, attentive staff, and a menu that appeals to a wide range of guests. IHOP restaurants are often a community hub, a place where families, friends, and individuals enjoy a welcoming experience and quality meals. Joining the IHOP team means becoming part of a company that values punctuality, professionalism, and a positive attitude. The environment emphasizes teamwork, cleanliness, and delivering exceptional customer experiences, contributing to IHOP's reputation as a positive and enjoyable place to dine and work.
The role of Host at IHOP is essential to creating a pleasurable dining environment for guests. This position requires a unique blend of hard skills and engaging interpersonal skills. A Host at IHOP is the first point of contact for guests, greeting and seating them with warmth and friendliness, ensuring everyone feels welcomed. Hosts must be capable of multitasking effectively, managing wait lists during busy times, accommodating guests’ special needs such as boosters and high chairs, and handling To-Go orders efficiently. Beyond seating assignments, Hosts are expected to provide menu recommendations, communicate order details with kitchen staff, and support timely curbside pickups. Maintaining the restaurant's appearance through cleaning and organization is also a vital part of the role, as it contributes to the overall dining experience. Hosts must possess patience, attentiveness, and a positive attitude at all times, embodying the spirit of IHOP's smile-centered culture. The position requires working collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth restaurant operations. Additionally, Hosts respond to phone inquiries following standard operating procedures and may be responsible for up-selling menu items when appropriate. IHOP looks for team players who are reliable, can handle the responsibilities of money transactions appropriately, and are committed to maintaining high standards of customer service. Having a Food Handlers Card is mandatory, and the ability to work weekends and holidays is required. This job not only offers competitive pay but also flexible hours, comprehensive training, and real opportunities for career advancement within a well-established and respected restaurant brand.
