As the first point of contact for guests, the Host is responsible for warmly welcoming patrons and ensuring they have a positive start to their dining experience. This position manages reservations, seating assignments, and waitlists with professionalism and efficiency, which are critical to maximizing table turnover while maintaining excellent service standards. The host works closely with servers and other team members to communicate guest needs and seating arrangements seamlessly. Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and customer-oriented service are crucial attributes for success in this role. The Host ensures that the restaurant environment, including the host station and entrance area, is clean, orderly, and inviting. They also maintain menus by ensuring they are clean, presentable, and updated as needed. This role provides support beyond basic hosting functions and may include other duties to support restaurant operations as required. Overall, the Host plays a pivotal role in creating an enjoyable and efficient dining atmosphere that encourages repeat patronage and positive reviews. The ideal candidate will bring prior hospitality or food and beverage experience, strong communication skills, and knowledge of table settings and menu items. Familiarity with POS systems and the ability to use suggestive selling techniques also enhance the ability to contribute meaningfully to guest satisfaction and restaurant success.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior hospitality or food and beverage experience preferred
- Must be able to speak read write and understand the primary language(s) used in communication with guests suppliers and colleagues
- Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process
- Requires good communication skills both verbal and written
- Must possess basic computer skills
- Must have complete knowledge of POS system
- Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware
- Ability to describe menu items prices and preparation methods
- Ability to use suggestive selling techniques
- Must have complete knowledge of products and specifications outlined in the dinner menu

Job Duties
- Greet guests warmly as they enter the restaurant and assess their seating preferences
- Escort guests to their table and present menus ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience
- Communicate wait times to guests when necessary and keep them updated while they wait
- Manage reservations and maintain an organized seating chart to maximize table turnover and efficiency
- Use the reservation or waitlist system to assign tables based on reservations guest preferences and server sections
- Update the waitlist and communicate with guests ensuring prompt seating as tables become available
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the host station and entrance area
- Ensure menus are clean and presentable replacing any damaged menus as needed
- Perform a combination of supportive functions beyond essential hosting duties as required
