With its dedication to guest satisfaction and consistency across its numerous locations, Denny's offers a unique blend of traditional diner ambiance paired with a dynamic, fast-paced service culture.
The Host/Hostess role at Denny's is a pivotal front-of-house position responsible for creating a positive first impression and ensuring the dining experience begins smoothly for all guests. This position reports to the General Manager and Restaurant Manager, playing a key role in maintaining the restaurant’s welcoming environment. A Host/Hostess greets guests immediately upon arrival in a friendly, courteous manner, managing the seating process utilizing proper rotation and attending to special guest needs. This role requires a strong sense of urgency to meet service timing standards while assisting with guest orders, handling payments accurately, and responding promptly and efficiently to any guest concerns or complaints.
The Host/Hostess is integral to Denny's overall commitment to guest satisfaction, acting as a liaison between guests and the service team, ensuring a harmonious dining atmosphere. Duties include maintaining guest waiting lists, suggestively selling menu promotions, assisting in beverage orders and refills, clearing and resetting tables, as well as managing clean and organized restaurant foyer areas. This position demands safe cash handling, proper telephone etiquette, and the ability to handle takeout orders properly.
Physically, the Host/Hostess must be able to stand and walk for the entire shift, lift trays and supplies up to certain weights, and carry out side work including thorough cleaning tasks. The role places an emphasis on teamwork, requiring candidates to assist other team members proactively and maintain the store’s brand standards and internal policies. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, reliability, and a respectful approach toward diversity and teamwork. Flexibility in working hours, including holidays, nights, and weekends, is essential.
