Job Qualifications

  • minimum 1 year full service restaurant experience or equivalent
  • accurate mathematic skills
  • knowledge of menu and specials
  • understanding of restaurant layout including table and station numbers
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to maintain composure in busy and noisy environments
  • warm, sincere, and outgoing personality

Job Duties

  • greet and seat guests
  • answer phones and take messages and reservations
  • maintain an accurate wait list when necessary
  • bid goodbye to all guests
  • determine proper amount of reservations to be accepted for each shift
  • confirm applicable reservations
  • seat the restaurant evenly and fairly among servers
  • maintain accurate head count of guests seated in each station
  • fill out telephone message pads and deliver timely
  • check washrooms and coordinate cleaning requirements
  • keep host desk and waiting area clean and organized
  • sell and account for gift certificate sales
  • move tables as needed for party size adjustments
  • relate to guests pleasantly with good humor
  • communicate effectively with guests
  • accurately quote wait time within 5 minutes during busy periods
  • efficiently assign tables
  • maintain host control sheet
  • anticipate needs of special parties
  • communicate seating needs to staff
  • inform guests about wait procedures
