Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience of at least 3 months in a position with heavy cash handling and customer service exposure
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to multitask effectively
- Ability to use tact and understanding when dealing with customer service problems, including stressful and emotional situations
- Ability to handle coins, writing utensils, grasp handles, push buttons, and carry dishes
- Ability to lift and carry trays and bus tubs up to 10 lbs
- Ability to stand throughout entire shift and lift arms above head to retrieve objects
- Ability to read written communications, computer screens, and printouts
- Ability to see colors and survey the room in dimly lit conditions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a role involving heavy cash handling and customer service exposure preferred
- Mathematical aptitude at a high school graduate level
- Knowledge of standard cash handling procedures and computerized cash register systems
- General knowledge of basic customer service skills, restaurant operations, and food service principles
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
- Ability to multitask and handle stressful or emotional situations with tact and understanding
- Ability to maintain professionalism and courteous demeanor in a fast-paced environment
Job Duties
- Greet arriving customers with a cordial welcome
- Escort customers to assigned tables and provide menus
- Establish rapport to accommodate special needs or requests
- Assign sections and notify servers of new seats
- Maintain a visible presence by staying at the cashier station and circulating to assist servers
- Receive payment and process transactions accurately using computerized cash register
- Verify accuracy of guest checks including pricing, discounts, and payment methods
- Ensure all charge vouchers are properly filled and authorized
- Collect and note customer feedback to improve service and report to management
- Distribute and account for checks issued to servers maintaining accurate logs
- Count daily revenues, reconcile cash registers, and report discrepancies
- Maintain a clean restaurant environment by performing cleaning and sidework duties
- Check table and seating setup prior to opening
- Report any maintenance or housekeeping issues to management promptly
- Exhibit a professional, friendly, and courteous demeanor at all times
