Job Description
Eataly is the world’s largest artisanal Italian food and beverage marketplace. Unlike a chain, each Eataly location features its own unique character and theme while adhering to a unified mission: to offer guests an authentic Italian culinary experience. The establishment provides a comprehensive and immersive environment where visitors can eat high-quality Italian food at its restaurants, cafés, and to-go counters. Beyond dining, Eataly invites guests to shop for a curated selection of genuine Italian, local, and homemade products. In addition, the marketplace fosters learning through various educational classes and the expertise of its knowledgeable team, enriching customers' appreciation of Italian cuisine and culture.
Eataly is currently seeking a Host to join its dynamic restaurant team. This role is pivotal as the first and last point of contact for guests, responsible for greeting, seating, and bidding farewell to patrons, ensuring a welcoming and organized dining experience. The Host's duties also involve maintaining an efficient flow of guests throughout service via effective management of seating arrangements and waitlists, employing a computerized system to keep track of reservations and guest needs.
Working closely with the Restaurant Manager, the Host oversees the operational flow of the dining room during service hours and communicates essential information to managers and service personnel. The position requires balancing guest distribution among service stations, considering preferences for seating or servers when possible. The Host notifies guests when their tables are ready, escorts them to their seats, provides menus, and introduces them to their servers, enhancing the overall guest experience.
Furthermore, the role requires collaboration, as the Host assists servers and buspersons when necessary to maintain service efficiency. This position demands strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a flexible attitude, especially during peak hours. Flexibility in schedule is critical, as shifts often include evenings and weekends to meet the demands of a high-volume restaurant environment.
The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in a similar fast-paced restaurant setting and basic computer proficiency to manage reservations and waitlists. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. An ability to engage physically with the job requirements, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds, is essential.
Eataly offers a competitive hourly wage of $18.70 plus pooled tips, along with a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees' health and well-being. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance; paid time off and parental leave; retirement savings plans with company matching; bonus programs; free daily family meals; discounts on Eataly products; educational classes on Italian cuisine and related goods; and referral bonuses. Eataly values diversity and is committed to equal employment opportunity and nondiscrimination policies.
