Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- one year related experience preferred or successful completion of Hostess Training Program and Exams
- effective verbal and written communication skills
- ability to work in an acute healthcare hospital environment
- ability to adhere to safety procedures and use protective clothing and equipment
- capable of sitting, standing and walking throughout the day
- ability to work independently within department policies
- respectful and culturally sensitive demeanor
Job Qualifications

- familiarity with healthcare environment protocols

Job Duties
- Assist patients to make appropriate daily menu selections
- telephone or visit new admissions to determine dietary preferences
- prepare, assemble and deliver patient meal trays
- verbally communicate patient concerns with the clinical dietitian
- process daily menu labels, diet changes, transfers, discharges and new admissions
- prepare daily meal census form
- maintain adequate supplies of menus, forms and supplies
- answer telephones and relay messages accurately
- assist with other clerical duties in Nutrition Office
- inventory and stock nursing unit pantries with patient food
- maintain quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards
- perform other related duties with respect and consideration for patients' age, physical condition, and cultural needs
