Job Description
Open Door Mission is a longstanding Gospel Rescue Mission established in 1954 with a dedicated focus on breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty. This nonprofit organization operates from its Omaha campus, providing critical services and support to individuals and families experiencing housing insecurity and financial hardship. Every day, Open Door Mission offers shelter to nearly a thousand people in need, serves thousands of nourishing meals, and acts as a vital resource to empower vulnerable populations to maintain permanent housing. The organization is deeply rooted in compassionate service inspired by Christian values, emphasizing respect, dignity, and hope for all who seek their aid. Their multifaceted approach includes emergency shelter provision, preventive resources, education, employment assistance, and supportive programs aimed at fostering life transformation and long-term stability.
The Hospitality Manager role at Open Door Mission is a pivotal position within this inspiring mission-driven organization. As the leader overseeing front-of-house operations in the Hospitality Center, this full-time role ensures that every guest encounters a welcoming, orderly, and dignified environment. The Hospitality Manager coordinates dining room activities, manages the flow of guests, and supervises volunteer teams to maintain smooth daily operations. Close collaboration with the Kitchen Manager is essential to seamlessly integrate meal services and special events, optimizing guest experience and operational efficiency. Beyond operational oversight, the Hospitality Manager actively fosters an atmosphere of compassion and respect that reflects the core mission of Open Door Mission. This position requires a blend of strong leadership, organizational skills, and a heart for ministry to support vulnerable individuals with grace and care. The role includes responsibilities such as building community relationships, ensuring safety and cleanliness in dining and common areas, directing staff schedules, and embodying the organization’s Christ-centered culture through daily witness and prayer. With a competitive salary range of $45,000 to $58,000 annually and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance options, retirement plans, paid time off, and unique perks like an on-campus cafeteria and exercise rooms, this role offers a meaningful career opportunity to make a lasting impact. The Hospitality Manager holds a crucial place in advancing Open Door Mission's vision by creating a hospitable space where guests feel valued and supported on their journey toward stable living and restored hope.
