Job Description

La Popular is an exciting chef-driven restaurant concept originally founded in Mexico City, a city renowned globally for its rich culinary heritage and vibrant food culture. Since its establishment in Roseville, CA in 2022, La Popular has rapidly expanded its footprint with additional locations in Austin, Porter Ranch, and Claremont, with plans for further growth. The restaurant is committed to serving authentic Mexican cuisine that highlights bold, vibrant flavors in an inviting and lively atmosphere. The heart of La Popular’s success lies in its people, and the company is dedicated to building a team that embodies positive energy, a passion for discovery, and a strong sense of community. These core values ensure that every guest experiences exceptional service and a memorable dining experience.

This role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic and growing hospitality brand that values growth and development for its team members. La Popular offers competitive hourly wages plus tips, weekly pay, and a fun, fast-paced work environment where employees can thrive. The company also offers unique benefits such as company contests with experiential trips to popular food and beverage destinations, an Employee Assistance Program focusing on mental health support for employees and their families, as well as extensive opportunities for career advancement, with over 65 percent of team promotions coming from within. Employees also benefit from discounts and a supportive team culture.

The purpose of this position is to greet all guests warmly, provide personable, efficient, and knowledgeable food service, and contribute positively to the overall restaurant operations. This non-exempt position reports directly to the General Manager and indirectly to other members of management. As a Hospitality Guide, you will be the face of La Popular’s brand, responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience through your friendly demeanor and professionalism.

Key responsibilities of this role include maintaining a positive attitude and enthusiasm, consistent attendance and punctuality, and clear communication with both the kitchen and front-of-house operations. The hospitality environment is fast-paced, requiring the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, including taking and packaging take-out orders, utilizing a tray to deliver beverages, and operating the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately. You will also need to maintain thorough knowledge of the menu and bar offerings to respond confidently to guest inquiries and serve food and beverages to time and quality standards.

Attention to detail is crucial for correctly assigning table and bar seat numbers, ensuring proper placement of food and drinks, and performing opening and closing duties such as cleaning and food prep. Compliance with all state and federal laws regarding the service of alcohol is mandatory. At times, you may also need to maintain cleanliness in restrooms and adhere strictly to all safety regulations to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for guests and staff alike.

This role demands physical stamina, involving prolonged periods of standing, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting products and supplies. The work environment may be loud, hot, fast-paced, and occasionally physically demanding, requiring resilience and focus. If you are an outgoing individual with a passion for hospitality and a desire to grow within a vibrant and supportive company, La Popular offers an exciting career path where your contributions are valued and your personal and professional development is prioritized.
