Job Description

UF St. Johns Flagler is a part of the University of Florida Health system, dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare services to the local community in St. Augustine, Florida. As a reputable healthcare establishment, the hospital emphasizes better care, collaborative practice, and a strong commitment to the people it serves. UF St. Johns Flagler is preparing to open a brand new, state-of-the-art 150-bed hospital facility in September 2026, which will further enhance its capability to deliver quality medical care and advanced treatment options to patients in the region. The hospital is striving to foster a supportive work environment that encourages professional growth and community connection among its medical staff.

The role of Hospital Medicine Physician at UF St. Johns Flagler offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of healthcare in St. Augustine. This position involves joining a close-knit team of eight physicians focused on delivering excellent inpatient care within a rapidly evolving hospital setting. The physician will be responsible for conducting daily patient rounds with admissions, supporting hospitalist team efforts in areas such as utilization management, compliance, clinical documentation improvement, and patient satisfaction.

Additionally, the Hospital Medicine Physician will collaborate closely with the Hospitalist Director on performance improvement initiatives aimed at reducing length of stay, minimizing readmissions, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Participation in monthly hospitalist team meetings is an important component of this role, fostering continual performance enhancements and effective communication within the team. The work schedule follows a 7-on, 7-off day rounding format with potential moonlighting incentives, providing a work-life balance that supports both professional dedication and personal time.

Living in St. Augustine, the country’s oldest city founded in 1565, offers a unique blend of rich history, European-style architecture, scenic Atlantic Ocean beaches, and abundant outdoor recreational activities including swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, and biking. The city’s vibrant cultural atmosphere, charming historic architecture, unique shops, and variety of dining options create an enriching and enjoyable lifestyle outside of work. Convenient access to the Jacksonville airport, just one hour away, facilitates easy travel options for residents.

UF St. Johns Flagler also offers a competitive compensation package that includes quality and productivity bonuses, alongside comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Additional benefits include a 401k with matching contributions, paid malpractice insurance with tail coverage, annual CME allowance, and relocation assistance to support new hires.
