Custodians play a critical role in upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation, which supports patient recovery and safeguards the wellbeing of everyone in the hospital. Duties include disinfecting furniture, fixtures, equipment, cleaning patient rooms, handling soiled linens, and responding to biohazard cleanups such as bloodborne pathogens and chemical spills. They also operate various floor care machinery like high-speed buffers and automated scrubbers, perform carpet cleaning tasks, and ensure the cleanliness of surgical and invasive procedure rooms.
