Job Description

The Mexican American Opportunity Foundation (MAOF) is a well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals and families across diverse communities, primarily focusing on providing support services that promote self-sufficiency and enhance quality of life. With decades of service, MAOF delivers a range of social and community programs, including child care assistance, workforce development, housing support, and educational programs geared towards empowering underserved populations in a culturally sensitive and inclusive environment. Their commitment to excellence and community development underscores their role as an influential nonprofit leader in offering vital social services tailored to meet the dynamic needs of the populations they serve.

This specific position is for a Homemaker within the Child Care/Pre-School program, a critical role that emphasizes nutrition and child wellness according to established Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines. The Homemaker will be responsible for planning and preparing healthy meals and snacks that meet federal and program regulations aimed at promoting proper nutrition among young children. This is a non-exempt, full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, with compensation ranging between $19.50 and $20.15 per hour. The Homemaker will operate under the supervision of the Nutrition Program Manager and Site Supervisor, ensuring that all food preparation and serving activities comply with safety, sanitary, and health standards.

The core responsibilities center on meal preparation, inventory management, sanitation, and accurate record-keeping while maintaining a warm and respectful atmosphere for children in care. This role requires adherence to strict guidelines to safeguard food quality and safety, including monitoring food temperatures and maintaining a clean kitchen environment. The Homemaker also participates in ongoing training and attends staff meetings, enhancing their skills and aligning with updates in nutrition practices. Other duties extend to light housekeeping tasks related to the kitchen area and supportive roles during meal service.

MAOF seeks a Homemaker who is organized, reliable, and able to work effectively under limited supervision. Fluency in both Spanish and English is required to ensure clear communication within the community being served. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and a genuine dedication to fostering a positive environment shaped by care and respect for children. Physical demands are considered, as the position entails manual handling and requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Ongoing physical and background clearances including live scan fingerprinting and health screenings are mandatory to maintain employment in this vital public service role.

MAOF proudly offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance fully paid by the organization, as well as personal time off, paid sick leave, holidays, retirement plan options with employer matching, and other employee-centric benefits designed to support well-being and professional growth. Commitment to community impact through compassionate, quality service delivery, combined with adherence to high standards for health and safety, make this Homemaker position both rewarding and crucial within the MAOF team.
