Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous cooking experience preferred but not required
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • physical ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • basic math and reading skills
  • food safety certification or willingness to obtain
  • strong teamwork orientation
  • attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards

Job Qualifications

  • Able to work flexible shift schedule including nights, weekends, and/or holidays
  • able to physically stand and walk 100 percent of shift
  • able to reach, bend, and stoop
  • ability to speak, read and write English
  • able to read recipes and food labels
  • able to read POS ticket orders
  • communicates ticket times, executes food flow from kitchen to guests, and reports potential issues to manager on duty
  • able to safely use kitchen machinery such as open flame grill, stove, slicer
  • work safely with hot plates, pots, and pans
  • work safely with sharp knives and utensils
  • able to lift up to 50 lbs several times per shift and lift these heavy loads to high shelves, coolers, freezers
  • ability to hold items weighing up to 5 lbs for long periods
  • work in high temperature, damp environment indoors and minimally outdoors
  • assist fellow employees with dishwashing and cleaning as needed
  • complete and pass food safety certification program in compliance with Flanigan's and Florida statutes

Job Duties

  • Follow all company safety and sanitation policies and procedural training
  • prepare menu items according to Flanigan's company recipe manual and plate presentation
  • ensure rotation of all products and stock products to par level to ensure kitchen is not disrupted
  • help complete assigned prep work to stock and set up stations as necessary
  • transport items to and from kitchen and help vendor unload delivery trucks
  • clean and maintain kitchen area throughout shift
  • break down and clean all stations at closing
