Job Description
The Brandywine Heights Area School District Athletic Department is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and supportive environment for student-athletes across the Borough of Topton and the townships of District, Longswamp, and Rockland. Serving nearly 1,250 students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade within three school sites, BHASD emphasizes the development of academic, physical, and social-emotional skills through a holistic educational approach. The district prides itself on creating a culture that encourages trust, collaboration, and equity among students, staff, and the broader community. Its Athletic Department plays a crucial role by organizing and supporting athletic events throughout the Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons, ensuring that each event promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and school spirit.
The role of a High School Game Manager within BHASD is integral to the smooth execution of athletic competitions. This position is open to individuals who are 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Game Managers are responsible for a wide array of tasks that ensure athletic events run efficiently and professionally. These workers are the liaison between officials, teams, athletic staff, and spectators, setting the tone for each event's ambiance and operational integrity. The position is paid at a rate of $40.00 per game, providing an excellent opportunity for those looking to contribute to the school district's athletic programs while gaining valuable experience in sports event management.
As a Game Manager, you will take charge of preparing and verifying all athletic equipment is available and ready, setting up playing areas, managing scoring tables, and scoreboards. You will serve as a welcoming representative for officials and opposing teams, escorting them to designated locations to ensure comfort and clarity. This role requires a professional demeanor, excellent communication skills, and a problem-solving attitude as you interact with students, staff, and parents, resolving conflicts calmly and courteously whenever necessary. Reporting concerns and assistance needs to the Athletic Director forms an essential part of maintaining seamless operations. Beyond these responsibilities, Game Managers are expected to perform duties as assigned by the Athletic Department, which may vary depending on the specific requirements of each sport and event.
The schedule for this role is flexible and dependent on the specific athletic season, with details provided during the interview process. Employment starts immediately after the successful completion of pre-employment requirements and School Board approval. Working at BHASD allows you to contribute to a mission that prioritizes students first, aiming to empower and inspire young athletes to reach new heights in their development both on and off the field. BHASD also fosters an inclusive and equitable educational and extracurricular environment, ensuring every team member feels valued and motivated to excel.
